Corpus Christi Sharks News Release
WR/DB Ivory McCann was named to both the 2008 All-af2 National Conference Team and the 2008 All-Ironman Team. Each year the league's top performers are honored and recognized by being selected to an 18 player all-af2 status roster. The All-af2 Team is selected by a vote of Arena Football 2 (af2) head coaches and media members.
Following a standout career at Texas Tech, McCann spent the 2006 season with the Las Vegas Gladiators of the Arena Football league before joining the Corpus Christi Sharks of the af2 in 2007.
During his second year as a Corpus Christi Shark, McCann became the only Sharks player to receive back-to-back All -Af2 honors and is one of the nine players in the league to receive such recognition two years in a row. McCann joins only three other National Conference players to be selected to both the All-af2 Team and All-Ironman Team.
In his two seasons with the Sharks, McCann has returned 13 kicks for touchdowns (eight kickoffs and eight missed field goals) and has led the team in all-purpose yards in both seasons, totaling 3,866 yards since 2006.
The 5'9", 170lb. McCann, was also a difference maker in the Sharks defensive backfield and on the offensive side of the ball. The speedster led the team in pass breakups (26) and was second on the team with four interceptions in 2008.
McCann also ranked among the team leaders in both scoring and receiving in his two seasons with Corpus Christi.
This year marks the first year that the league has given out special recognition to its top 15 two-way players. The All-Ironman Team recognizes the athletes who are able to perform at the highest level, both on offense and defense.
