HEAD COACHES: Mike Trigg is in his third season as head coach of the Sharks. Last season, Trigg lead the Sharks to a 7-9 record. The numbers don't tell the whole story however as the Sharks were far more competitive in their sophomore campaign with the team just missing the post season on the final day of the season. Heading in to 2009, Trigg has revamped his coaching staff and his roster determined to deliver a winning season to Sharks fans!

Dean Cokinos enters his second season with the Vipers. The Vipers got off to an 0-3 start in 2008 and then reeled off 10 victories in the final 13 games. The Vipers then went on a playoff tear getting to their first Arena Cup. The Vipers upset the favored Spokane Shock in OT 56-55 in Spokane, WA.

LEAGUE TOP 5: Sharks players from this week's matchup who rank among af2's statistical leaders:

SHARKS Player Rank Category Stat None

MILESTONES: Gary Cooper became the first Sharks QB to throw fback-to-back 300 yard games with his 307 yd performance last week against Florida. Brandon Hussey reversed his slow start. In the last 2 games Hussey has 20 catches for 310 yards and 6 scores. DROPBACK: The Sharks lost to Florida 66-48.

FORWARD MOTION: Corpus Christi will hit the road again and head to Amarillo for their second and final meeting of the season with the Dusters.

TEAM NOTES/TRENDS:

Stability at QB: Gary Cooper has had two solid games after his slow start to the season. Cooper has especially gotten into a rhythm with both Brandon Hussey and Jonathan Graham.

Let's Get Physical: The Sharks are still looking for more physical play out of their secondary and less mental mistakes. Look for some different mixes among the DB's this week.

Defensive Stops: While the offense has excelled the past two games the defense has regressed. The Sharks "D" has failed to get a stop in the previous two games and allowed Florida and Rio to go a combined 5-5 on 4th down conversions. The Coaching staff hopes the additions of DB Rod Mosley and DL/LB Donnell August can give the defense a boost this week.

PLAYERS/MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Sharks Offensive and Defensive Lines: The Sharks offensive line played better last week despite new additions and a short week of practice. The team still has to become more consistent in their line play to break into the win column and upset the Vipers.

Sharks Secondary: The Sharks struggled once again last week in the secondary. The addition of Rod Mosley who played with Sharks last year should help them become more consistent.

Who's at Fullback? Back last week and showed some flashes. Moutons pass protection however still needs some work. Perhaps with a full game and a week of practice under his belt that area will be improved against the Vipers.
