Sharks Own Second Half in Win

There were none of the customary dramatics this time. The Rochester RazorSharks (4-6) pulled away from the Halifax Rainmen (6-4) in the second half to win their second straight Premier Basketball League game 102-88, before a crowd of 5,028.

After an even first half, it was 46-46 at intermission, Rochester dominated play. Jerice Crouch scored 8 points in the first four minutes of the third quarter to help provide the Sharks a nine point lead after three. Sammy Monroe scored 10 of his 16 over a four minute stretch of the fourth quarter. Eric Walton added a couple of spectacular dunks late. Rochester led by as many as 19 and won finally by 14.

Walton was high man with 17 points and 9 rebounds. The Sharks had six in double figures. Monroe had 16. Crouch scored 14.

Josh Dollard scored 18 for the Rainmen. Marshall Brown and Tajuan Porter added 17 each.

For the second straight game Rochester won the turnover battle, surrendering the ball just 12 times, nine below average, and turning 17 Hailifax turnovers into 15 points. It was a good defensive effort. Halifax was held to 41.4 percent shooting. 88 points were the fewest the RazorSharks have allowed in 25 games.

Rochester is right back at it. The Sharks host league leading and defending champion Lawton-Fort Sill Monday night.
