Corpus Christi Sharks News Release

Corpus Christi Sharks Vice President/General Manager Larry Linde announced today the af2 team has been assigned former Lehigh QB Sedale Threatt Jr. Threat is the son of former NBA journeyman Sedale Threatt Sr..

Threatt Jr. worked out for the team towards the end last season and showed a lot of athletic ability. The Sharks have been without a back-up QB since the departure of Dane King. Not wanting to go down the stretch without a true QB to behind Gary Cooper, Head Coach Michael Trigg called Threatt to check on his availability. Threatt immediately boarded a plane and headed to Corpus Christi. "Sedale brings a lot to the table," said Trigg. "He has a strong arm, the ability to scramble in the pocket and buy time, and can beat with his legs". "We're excited about having an athlete with his ability on our roster", Trigg added.

In his Mountain Hawk career, Threatt threw for 4,622 yards and 35 touchdowns. Threatt also rushed for an additional 1,093 yards and 17 TD's.

Threatt's father spent 14 seasons in the NBA with 5 different teams. Over the course of his career Threat played in 951 games scoring 9,327 points. Threatt became the center of attention in 1991 after signing as the back up point guard with the Lakers. After Magic Johnson announced his retirement due to AIDS, Threatt became the starting point guard averaging 15.1ppg.

The Sharks travel to Bossier City this week to take on the Battle Wings. Sharks fans will get their first opportunity to see Threatt when the team returns home on Saturday June 13th for US Army Men's Night presented by Andrews Distributing, Corpus Christi Harley Davidson, and Classic Rock 104.5.
