
Shamrox First Ever Exhibition Game Ends in 11-11 Tie

SIX NATIONS, ONTARIO, CANADA - The Chicago Shamrox tied the Rochester Knighthawks 11-11 in an exhibition game Sunday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Six Nations, Ontario. It was the first exhibition game in Chicago Shamrox history.
The Shamrox started out slow, as the Knighthawks jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but they battled back with 6 goals in the second quarter, including 3 from rookie forward Cody Jacobs, to cut it to a 7-6 deficit at halftime. Zach Heffner and Jason Clark added second half goals, as the Shamrox took a 4th quarter lead. The Shamrox led 11-10 late in the fourth until surrendering a power play goal to the Knighthawks with: 38 remaining. The teams did not play overtime.
"We were very excited to finally get a game against another team to see what we could do." said GM/Head Coach Jamie Batley. "After seeing what transpired, we couldn't be happier with the way our team played. It was good to see all of our hard work in training camp come together."
After overcoming the slow start, the Shamrox played very well over the final three quarters of the game.
"After the first 10 minutes, they seemed to really get their feet underneath them." said scout Andrew McKay. "Once they got into the flow of the game, they really looked good."
Game Notes:
Forward Cody Jacobs led all scorers with 4 goals in the game...Goaltenders split time as Brandon Miller played the first half and Derek Collins played the second half...Rochester led 5-1 after the first quarter, 7-6 at halftime, and 9-7 after the third quarter
The Shamrox will return to the field next Saturday night, December 23rd at 7:00pm against the Buffalo Bandits at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Six Nations, Ontario. The Shamrox open regular season play Saturday, January 6, 2007, at home at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill. At 7:30 pm against the New York Titans.
