Miami Manatees News Release
Orlando â The Seals came from behind and scored seven goals in the third period against the Miami Manatees to win 8-4.
Despite playing with only 10 skaters, the Manatees took a 2-1 lead in the first period. Kevin Swider scored his 19th goal of the year when his off-angle shot from the red-line went top shelf past goaltender David Goverde to start the scoring for the Manatees.
The Manatees second goal came on a quick succession of passes. Chad Cabana kept the puck in at the far point and passed it down to Greg LeColst at the right circle. LeColst immediately touch-passed the puck across the crease to a streaking Dan Donnette. Donnette's one-time shot from the hash-marks beat Goverde low for the goal..
The Manatees killed off three Seals power-plays in the second period and Josh Liebenow added the only goal to extend the Manatees lead to two as the second period came to a close. With starting goaltender Sean Weaver out with a knee injury, tending nets is local goalie Eric Scanlon.
The game belonged all to the Manatees for the first two periods, but eventually it all unraveled as Orlando scored three unanswered goals to start off the third period. Swider tied up the game when his shot trickled through the feet of Goverde, but the Seals fresh legs won the game for them as they put 4 more goals past Scanlon to end the game 8-4.
The Manatees play on the road against Lakeland next Thursday. Manatee season ticket holders can get information on season ticket refunds by contacting Jenn Green at jenn@wha2.com
