
Seven Flight Players Earn Summer League Spots

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., July 14, 2003 - Seven players that have played for the Huntsville Flight over the first two National Basketball Development League seasons are currently on NBA summer league rosters.
Those players include Brandon Williams and Art Long, as well as former Flight players Eric Chenowith, Tyrone Ellis, A.J. Guyton, Jefferson Sobral and Greg Stempin.
Williams, who played 41 games in 2002-03 for the Flight while also making a brief 10-day appearance with the Atlanta Hawks, is currently on the Dallas Mavericks roster for the summer. The NBDL honorable mention selection averages 5.3 points and 2.8 rebounds, while hitting 47.1 percent of his shots in his first four games through Sunday's play.
As for Long, he is a member of the Golden State summer roster and has tallied an 11.0 point and 4.5 rebound averages in 22.5 minutes a game over four contests. Long was signed by the Flight during the latter stages of last season and also spent time with three NBA teams during the campaign.
Former Flight player, Eric Chenowith, has played in five games for the Los Angeles Lakers this summer and has garnered an 8.2 scoring average along with 5.2 rebounds per game over five contests and 20.6 minutes per tilt.
Ellis, who played for the Flight during their initial season, is also with the Mavericks summer team and has collected 5.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in four games over 15.8 minutes per game.
The Brazilian native, Sobral, has appeared three times for the Seattle Supersonics and has scored 4.0 points a game while tallying 1.7 rebounds in 14 minutes a contest. Stempin, who played briefly with the Flight this season before being traded to Columbus, appeared in his first game Sunday for the Denver Nuggets and scored four points on two-of-three shooting and added three rebounds in 25 minutes.
As for Guyton, who is with the San Antonio Spurs team this summer, he starts play today in the Reebok Pro Summer League in Boston.
