Serrano Tosses Perfect Game
June 23, 2008 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
Washington Glory News Release
STERLING, VA - Desiree Serrano, last year's National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Pitcher of the Year did something she didn't do during her award-winning campaign by throwing a perfect game on Sunday. The Washington Glory defeated the Venezuelan National Team 3-0, winning the series three games to one.
RF Nicole Barber led-off the game with a home run, which would be all the offense Serrano would need.
The first perfect game in team history came one day after another milestone, as Glory slugger Oli Keohohou set a new NPF career homerun record. She first tied former Akron Racer Iyhia McMichael with her 27th career blast in the third inning. A grand slam later in the game sealed an 8-2 win and gave Keohohou the longball crown.
After four days off, the Glory will return to action at the Westfield Sports Complex on Friday as they continue the international portion of their season with four games against Chinese Taipei. For more information, including tickets, please visit www.washingtonglory.com
