Washington Kastles News Release

If Serena Williams wins her sixth Wimbledon title on Saturday, she will have certainly earned it.

The Kastles superstar defeated former World No. 1s Venus Williams and Victoria Azarenka in back-to-back matches on Monday and Tuesday. Her reward is a semifinal showdown on Thursday against another former World No. 1 Maria Sharapova.

After 10 days of build-up, the much-anticipated match between Serena and Venus ended in only 68 minutes with little sister emerging victorious 6-4, 6-3.

Serena followed by rallying past Azarenka 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. With that win, Serena improved to 37-1 in 2015 and extended her Grand Slam winning streak to 26 matches. Remarkably, the World No. 1 is 34-32 at majors when she loses the first set.

Serena has not lost to her semifinal opponent Sharapova in over a decade, having won 16 consecutive matches and 12 straight sets against the Russian.

ESPN and ESPN3.com will air live coverage of the women's singles semifinals and mixed doubles quarterfinals starting at 8 am on Thursday.

Three of Serena's D.C. teammates clashed in a third-round mixed doubles match on Tuesday. Leander Paes and Martina Hingis, the Kastles dream team, beat Anastasia Rodionova and Artem Sitak 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals.

The second-ranked Hingis has not dropped a set in six matches at Wimbledon, reaching the women's doubles semifinals alongside World No. 1 Sania Mirza. Hingis and Mirza defeated French Open finalists Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova 7-5, 6-3 in Wednesday's quarterfinals.

Hingis returns to action alongside Paes on Thursday, while Rodionova sets her sights on the Kastles' season opener against the Boston Lobsters this Sunday at 6 pm.

The Aussie will be joined in Boston by rising star Denis Kudla, whose magical Wimbledon run ended in the fourth round on Monday. US Open champion and No. 9 seed Marin Cilic withstood a valiant effort by Kudla to win 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Kudla, who hails from Arlington and trained in College Park, will return to Washington for home matches on July 14, July 16 and July 18. Tickets to see the Kastles' hometown hero start at $12 on Ticketmaster.com.

Dinner, Beverages, Parking, VIP Hospitality Among Perks

You can't find them anywhere on Ticketmaster.com, but we're happy to announce that a very limited number of Emirates VIP Dream Seats and Premier Courtside Boxes are available for individual matches this season.

Perfect for the most special evenings with business clients, family or friends, all dinner tables and boxes come with four seats, pre-match VIP Hospitality and VIP parking. VIP Hospitality includes free food and attendance at press conferences featuring the likes of Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Martina Hingis!

Emirates VIP Dream Seats dinner tables also come with a delicious, catered multi-course dinner and an open bar. You never know who your neighbors will be: First Lady Michelle Obama, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and ESPN personality Tony Kornheiser enjoyed Emirates VIP Dream Seats in 2014.

Located on the lower level along the south sideline, only one of the 32 Emirates VIP Dream Seats dinner tables remains!

Premier Courtside Boxes are the closest sideline seats to the court, bringing you only feet from the fast-paced Kastles action.
