BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Ottawa Senators recalled today right wing Ryan Shannon from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.

After 12 games this season with the B-Sens, Shannon is second in team scoring with five goals and nine assists. He also has six penalty minutes and a +8 rating. The 25-year-old is in his third NHL season and fourth pro.

The Senators acquired Shannon from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenseman Lawrence Nycholat on Sept. 2.

The native of Darien, Conn., split the 2007-08 campaign between Vancouver and its AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose. Shannon, who won the 2007 Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks, recorded career NHL season highs in goals (5) and points (13) in 27 games with the Canucks. In 13 games with the Moose, the 5-9, 171-pound right-winger had eight points (one goal and seven assists) and 10 penalty minutes. He joined Vancouver on June 23, 2007, following a trade with the Anaheim Ducks for Jason King and future considerations.

In 80 regular-season NHL games over two seasons, he has seven goals, 17 assists and 34 penalty minutes.

The B-Sens take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers tonight at 6 p.m. (ET).
