Second Picks Announced for Rhinos Legends Game

Rochester, NY - The Rochester Rhinos are pleased to announce the second players selected by Team Andracki and Team Demmin for the Rhinos Legends Game on Saturday, June 27th at Sahlen's Stadium. Goalkeeper Pat Onstad ('98-99, '01-02) and midfielder Hector Marinaro ('96) join first round selections Lenin Steenkamp & Doug Miller on the Rhinos Legends Game rosters.

The second pick for Team Demmin is goalkeeper Pat Onstad. Pat had two stints with the Rhinos from 1998-1999 and 2001-2002 and was elected to the Rochester Rhinos Hall of Fame in 2012. During his time with the Rhinos, Onstad was named to the A-League First Team in 1998 and also won the Goalkeeper of the Year award. In 1999, Pat was named to the A-League Second Team and was a key member of the team that won the US Open Cup Championship. His stellar play helped the Rhinos to three league championship appearances and two titles from 1998 - 2001. Pat holds the record for the Rhinos in goals against average with an average of 0.63. He is third in goalkeeper wins (52) and saves (212). He is second on the Rhinos All-Time list of shutouts with 36.

In 2003, Pat signed with the San Jose Earthquakes and spent the next nine years in Major League Soccer with the San Jose Earthquakes, Houston Dynamo, and DC United. Onstad was named to the MLS Best XI and named the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in both 2003 and 2005 as a member of the Earthquakes. He helped to lead the team capture the 2003 MLS Cup. Pat was a member of the Houston Dynamo teams that won the 2006 and 2007 MLS Cup. In International soccer, he made 57 appearances for the Canadian National Team and was named the Canadian Player of the Year in 2003. Since his retirement from playing professional soccer Pat has worked as an assistant for DC United, a chief scout with Toronto FC, and is currently an assistant for the Columbus Crew.

The second pick for Team Andracki is midfielder Hector Marinaro from the 1996 Rochester Raging Rhinos team. Hector played one season with the Rhinos and notched four goals and seven assists in 29 regular season appearances and helped the team to reach the A-League & US Open Cup as an expansion franchise. Marinaro is the all-time leader in points and goals scored in professional indoor soccer as he had an illustrious career with the Cleveland Force, Minnesota Strikers, Los Angeles Lazers, and the Cleveland Crunch.

In addition to the 1996 season with the Rhinos, Hector played with the Toronto Blizzard of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL) and appeared in six games with the Canadian Men's National Soccer Team. In 2006, he took over as the men's head soccer coach at John Carroll University located in Cleveland, Ohio. Hector and is wife Jodi are celebrating 21 years of marriage in 2015 and the couple have two children; a son that is a freshman in college and a daughter that is a junior in high school.

From opening at Frontier Field with sold out crowds to playing in the league final against Seattle and playing in the US Open Cup final at RFK Stadium versus DC United, said Hector Marinaro when asked of his best memories of his time in Rochester. "Overall, the support and excitement of the people of Rochester made for a great summer," said Marinaro.

The Rhinos Legends game will be a chance to celebrate the past as we continue to move forward into the new era of soccer in America and the USL. The Rhinos Legends Game will take place on Hall of Fame Day on Saturday, June 27th prior to the Rhinos home game against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
