Sean McLaughlin returns to the Gary Steelheads

Gary, IN: The Gary Steelheads announced today that Sean McLaughlin has returned to the Gary Steelheads. Sean will hold the position of Director of Operations with the Steelheads, along with many other varied duties. Sean returns to the Gary Steelheads after taking a year leave to accept a position with the Cedar Rapids River Raiders (IA) of the USBL where he held the title of General Manager. While working with the Cedar Rapids, he earned the "USBL's Executive of the Year".

Sean M. McLaughlin is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska and received his B.S. in Sports Marketing with emphasis in Marketing from Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska. He has been working with various sports teams for 7 years.

He started in 1997 as an intern for the Des Moines Dragon's of the IBA and continued to work there through 2001 learning many different facets of a basketball organization. In that time, the Dragon's posted four winning seasons winning the IBA President's Cup, setting numerous attendance records, and winning the IBA Organization of the Year award three consecutive years. Sean also held the positions of Director of Operations as well as Executive Director of the ten-team league in 2001 (IBA). He has also worked for the Des Moines Menace soccer club and the Iowa Sports Connection sports newspaper.

"I am glad to be back in Gary. The Gary Steelheads are a cornerstone franchise in minor league basketball and I am happy to be able to return and work for such a reputable and well noted basketball franchise," said McLaughlin.

"Sean did some outstanding work here previously and we expect that it will be more of the same now that he is back with us here in Gary. The Steelheads organization was sad to see him go, but we are ecstatic to have him back," stated Owner and Chief Executive Office Jewell G. Harris Sr.
