Snohomish County Explosion News Release

Monroe, WA. - March 2nd, 2009 - Courtyard Media Foundation, the parent company of the Snohomish County Explosion, President Nathan Mumm announced today that the team has promoted Sean Keck to be the new General Manager of the Explosion replacing Brad Sturlaugson who served in this capacity for two years. Keck will serve in this capacity immediately and has already met with all staff including head coach Chris Weakley. Brad Sturlaugson will remain with the organization and serve in a new role as the Director of Player Development on location in California. A press release regarding Brad Sturlaugson will follow.

"Sean will be a great addition to our organization," said Mumm. "With the high level of competition in this league, hiring from within our organization is a key to continue organizational growth. Keck was instrumental in the first season with the Explosion, at that time located in Everett, working as a Senior Account Manager with our key partners.

Sturlaugson will remain an important part of our organization and has served excellent in this role. He will continue as a resource for Courtyard in California helping place players overseas and recruiting players onto the team. Last year was a tough year on the floor and I wanted to take some time and assess the team. Working on the coaching staff briefly last year helped the decision that a change in direction was needed so we have a new coach and a new general manager moving into the 2009 season."

"The Explosion is one of the top organizations in the IBL, with a passionate fan base and a legacy of success," said Keck. "I am very excited to be the General Manager of the Explosion and the Courtyard Media family is a something I could have only dreamed about two years ago when I joined the team. My base of experience provides another perspective toward the common goal of everyone who works for the Explosion, winning a championship for the fans of Snohomish County."

Prior to his time with the Explosion, Keck worked as a Head Coach for two years and was a graduate in 1993 from Mariner High School. Sean has been a Washingtonian native all of this life and grew up in Shelton.
