Florida Seals News Release

[HUNTSVILLE, Ala.] -The Florida Seals traveled to Huntsville for their first ever visit and came away with their first overtime victory of the season. David Deeves, of Barrie, Ont., put an Art Mnatsakanov rebound in the net for a thankful victory.

Just like last Saturday night, the Seals scored early in the game. Steve Zoryk ripped a shot just 34-seconds into the game giving the Seals an early lead. A minute later the teams decided to start getting rough. Andrew Katzberg and Mike DeGurse dropped the gloves after a face-off giving the fans a holiday treat. The period went on at a feverish pace.

With very few whistles the teams skated up and down the ice and excited the fans with a quick style of play. The Havoc fans got the last laugh in the opening period when James Patterson and Jonathon Lounsbury each scored to send the home team into the locker room with the lead.

The second period started at the same pace the first frame ended. Both teams traded hits, stayed onsides and flew through the zones with the puck. The Seals registered the lone tally in the middle period when Justin Keller scored his second goal of the season at the 8:29 mark.

The lights got dim for Florida half way through the third period as Matt Bothwell found daylight through goalie Terry Denike's five-hole. The Seals continued to play hard and eventually got their fourth power play of the night.

Coming into the game the Seals had only tallied one power play goal on the road. Lawne Snyder changed that with his hard shot from the point. Snyder took the open room the Huntsville penalty kill gave him and ripped the shot along the ice into the net. The Barrie, Ont. defenseman earned his third goal of the season forcing the teams into overtime.

The Seals defense tightened up in the third period and overtime holding the Havoc to a meager seven shots. Conversely, the Seals kicked it into high gear offensively firing 28 shots on Huntsville goalie Matt Carmichael.

The Seals will travel to Columbus tomorrow night for a 7:05 pm puck drop. Florida returns home Saturday night to host the Cottonmouths. The first 1,000 fans through the doors will be given Seals hockey pucks courtesy of Gaw Realty Services. Both games can be heard on Talk Radio 1190 WAMT.
