Seals win fourth in a row

Florida Seals News Release

[KISSIMMEE, Fla.]-The Florida Seals took one more step in securing the third seed in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) playoffs with a 2-1 victory against Huntsville. The Seals were hoping for help in the standings, but still sit just one point ahead of Fayetteville as the FireAntz won in their final home game against Columbus Thursday night.

For the Seals their goalie, an old hero and a new hero sparked the team at the Silver Spurs Arena. Terry Denike played strong in net making 23 saves earning his 26th victory of the year.

The Seals second line of Rob Sich, Justin Keller and Craig Miller led the way again for the Seals opening up the scoring. Keller found Miller at center ice and Miller skated hard into the offensive zone. After finding some room, Miller threw a shot on net only to be saved by Havoc goalie Matt Carmichael. Fortunately the rebound came right to Sich who lit the lamp for the 25th time this year, tops for all rookies in the SPHL.

The Seals increased their lead early in the second period when David Deeves put his own rebound to the back of the net. It was a welcome goal for Deeves as he collected only his second goal in the past 17 games.

Denike wouldn't need any more offense. Things became interesting in the second period when Chris Peach took a take-to-tape pass from Bill Monkman giving the Havoc their lone tally of the night.

Tomorrow the Seals will take on the Pee Dee Cyclones on St. Patrick's Day. Come to the holiday game and bid on your favorite player's special St. Patrick's Day jersey. Saturday the Seals end their regular season against their rivals from Jacksonville. All games begin at 7:35 pm.

To reserve your playoff tickets with the Seals, call the office at (407) 343-PUCK or go to the Seals website at www.floridaseals.com. Ticket packages start as low as $20 for the most exciting time of year. All home games can be seen live at www.livesportsnetwork.com/sphl.
