Florida Seals News Release

[COLUMBUS, Ga.]-Florida finished their season long road trip with their sixth consecutive victory. The Seals won for the first time in Columbus this year 3-1 on Saturday night.

Seals bench boss Tommy Stewart called this the most intense game he has seen this year for both teams. The two teams matched physical and defensive play throughout the scoreless first period.

Florida was awarded a power play early in the second period and converted just a few seconds in. Lawne Snyder launched his power slap shot from the blue line and just squeezed it inside the post giving the Seals a lead they would never relinquish.

Five minutes later Florida grabbed a two-goal lead when Columbus defenseman Ryan Aikia turned the puck over in his own zone. Bret Peppler took the loose puck and found a streaking Craig Miller. Miller one timed the puck to the short side through a small opening.

With the two-goal lead the Seals continued to push the Snakes around on their home ice and played a tough physical game. Columbus narrowed the lead to one goal in the third period when Tom McMonagle lit the lamp for the 24th time this year. Things looked all too familiar as the Seals once again were locked in a one-goal battle.

Stewart's heart slowed to a healthier pace when Justin Keller scored an ugly, but important insurance goal. Keller shot the puck from the blue line. Columbus' Chad Rycroft made the save with his blocker, but the puck went up in the air and dropped behind Rycroft into the net.

The win ended the league high 17-game home winning streak the Cottonmouths had. The Seals continued a league mark of their own with their sixth straight road win. Terry Denike played strong in net for Florida making

The Seals return to the Silver Spurs Arena for the first time in six weeks, Friday night against Huntsville. The puck drops at 7:35pm with the first 1,000 fans through the door receiving a "Seals #1 Foam Finger" courtesy of Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista.
