San Diego Seals News Release

The San Diego Seals came out victorious on Saturday against the Saskatchewan Rush with a 12-11 win at Sasktel Centre in Saskatoon.

San Diego held the lead throughout the game and saw a dominating performance on both sides of the box. Tre Leclaire got the scoring started, and was quickly followed by Dane Dobbie's 500th career goal to start the first quarter. Dobbie is only the seventh player in league history to surpass 500 career goals. Read the full story here. Other highlights from the night include Shoemay's and Gamble's first goals of the season, as well as goals from Staats, Berg, Crowley, Dickson, and O'Keefe.

After a dominating three quarters, the fourth quarter started with a 10-4 Seals lead. Then came the Rush offense. After 4 goals from Walter, and goals from Church, Lintner, and Messenger, the Rush brought the lead down to 12-11. In the final seconds of the game, Rush forward Robert Church had a shot on goal that could have sent the game to OT but narrowly went wide. The comeback from the Rush looked eerily similar to the Seals comeback vs. the Rush back in December.

This is the third time these two teams have faced off against each other this season, with both the Seals and the Rush taking a win earlier in the year. The first matchup between these two teams was the Seals Home Opener on December 9th which saw the Seals take the win with an insane comeback after trailing 10-3, finishing in overtime with a 12-13 win. The Rush returned to San Diego on February 17th for their second matchup of the season which saw the Rush take the win with a 16-11 final.

The Seals head to Vancouver next week to face the Warriors, and will return home to Pechanga Arena San Diego for Godzilla Night on March 25 as they take on the Buffalo Bandits at 7:00 pm PT.
