San Diego Seals News Release
Year 17 for the Captain, #17! The San Diego Seals announced today that the team has re-signed Captain and future Hall of Famer Brodie Merrill.
"Brodie is our captain and is still considered one of the best defenders and leaders in the NLL," said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. "He loves this team and the city and wanted to extend his career in San Diego."
Brodie Merrill, a 16-year NLL veteran and younger brother of General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill, has appeared in 45 games for San Diego, recording 36 points, 350 loose balls and 53 caused turnovers. On February 22, 2020, Brodie Merrill scooped up his 2,518th loose ball to become the NLL's all-time leader. The future Hall of Famer was named the first captain in Seals history ahead of the team's inaugural season.
"It's been a special experience playing for the Seals on many levels and I'm thankful for the opportunity to play another year," said Brodie Merrill. "The team's hungry and ready to compete, and I'm proud to put on the jersey every game for the fans in San Diego."
Brodie Merrill is one of the most decorated lacrosse players in the history of the sport. His accomplishments include:
