Seacoast Mavericks News Release

Newington, NH, April 16, 2015 - The Seacoast Mavericks, a founding member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL), today introduced Chris Tilton as their Head Coach for the 2015 season. Tilton is a local area product, born and raised in Rochester, NH and graduated from Spaulding High School in 2010.

Throughout his young career, Tilton has developed some impressive coaching experience. He spent his first two years of college as a pitcher for the Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) baseball team, before making a move to the coaching side while finishing up his undergraduate degree. After spending two years as an Assistant Coach for SNHU's junior varsity baseball program, Tilton was hired as the Assistant Coach for Saint Michael's College's (Colchester, VT) baseball team, focusing primarily on pitchers.

"In his first year at Saint Michael's College, he has done a phenomenal job working with the pitchers. He has a great work ethic every day that translates onto the field," said Scott Strong, Head Coach at Saint Michael's. Coach Strong also worked with Chris while he was assisting the JV team at SNHU over the past three years and has seen what Chris can bring to the table. "I think Chris is going to do a great job with the Mavericks this year. To get a young local guy of his caliber is great news for the team," Strong said.

Aside from his college baseball coaching experience, Tilton has served as the pitching coach for the FCBL's North Shore Navigators during the 2014 season. After playing American Legion Baseball for Rochester Post 7, Tilton served as pitching coach for the team in the summers of 2012 and 2013. He has shown a consistent ability to lead and develop talent across many different forums. His versatility and diverse background makes him the perfect candidate to lead the Seacoast Mavericks to their first ever playoff berth in the FCBL.

Chris' familiarity with the area should serve him well. While attending Spaulding High School, Chris played for the Mavericks Club team based out of USA Training Centers in Newington, NH. His hard work and dedication never went unnoticed from Mavericks Owner/General Manager and Proprietor of USA Training Centers, Dave Hoyt.

"We are very excited to add Chris Tilton to our coaching staff," said Hoyt. "Chris has tremendous passion for baseball and the coaching profession. We have surrounded our incoming roster of players with a staff that has high energy and enthusiasm. Chris will be a great fit as the skipper for our 2015 Mavericks collegiate team."

The Mavericks start their season on June 4th with their home opener at Leary Field against the Nashua Silver Nights. After their college seasons end, Tilton will have to mold and mesh his Maverick players to form one cohesive team, which come from many different colleges across all three major NCAA divisions.

"I want to thank Dave Hoyt and the entire Seacoast Mavericks organization for this opportunity," Tilton said. "I will be joining an excellent organization and I am very excited to manage and work with the talented collegiate baseball players we will roster this summer. I look forward to getting the season started in June."
