The Saint John Sea Dogs (17-12-0-3) went 2-0 on the weekend, beating the Rimouski Oceanic (16-11-2-2) 6-2 in a Sunday matinee at TD Station. Two goal games from Philippe Daoust and William Dufour, Raivis Kristians Ansons' first goal as a Sea Dogs, and a goal from Cam MaDonald led the way for the Port City team in the 6-2 win.

Thomas Couture got the start in net for Saint John getting the win after stopping 14 of the 16 shots he faced. Patrik Hamrla started for the Oceanic, allowing 6 goals on 22 shots, before being replaced by Gabriel Robert who stopped all 10 shots the Sea Dogs sent his way in the third period.

Picking up a breakout pass from Josh Lawrence, William Dufour broke into the offensive zone with speed, making it past the defence and flipping the puck over the goaltender 3:45 into the game

Raivis Kristians Ansons scores his first as a Sea Dog, crashing the net and poking the puck past the line for his seventh goal of the season.

50 seconds later, Ansons made his way to the box on a holding call. On the resulting penalty kill, Philippe Daoust picked up a pass from Connor Trenholm and made his way past the defence to score his second goal as a Sea Dog.

Shots after the first period were 10-4 for the Sea Dogs.

34 seconds into the second frame, Daoust scored a goal off his backhand, increasing the lead to 4-0.

Brady Burns was sent off on a high-sticking minor, and the Oceanic scored their first of the night on the resulting power play at 6:18.

With 5:08 remaining in the second period the Oceanic cut the Sea Dogs lead to 2 off a goal from William Dumoulin.

Cam MacDonald got a goal right back for the Sea Dogs, sending the puck five-hole off a sharp angle shot and making it a 5-2 game for Saint John.

With 28 seconds left in the period Dufour scored his second of the game and his 25th of the season, and Saint John went into the final frame up 6-2.

Shots after the second period were 22-11 for Saint John.

The Oceanic swapped goaltenders at the beginning of the third, Gabriel Robert replacing Patrik Hamrla in net.

At 5:50, Cam MacDonald and Simon Maltais were sent off for roughing. 1:40 later, Mathis Aguilar joined them in the box and play went to 4-on-3 for Saint John.

A scrum behind Rimouski's net at 14:29 sent Nick Blagden and Mathis Gauthier to the box for roughing. Connor Trenholm received a penalty on the play for checking from behind.

All penalties were killed and the Sea Dogs maintained their 6-2 lead to finish the game.

Shots at the end of the game were 32-16 for Saint John.
