Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs' roster has been set for the Eastern League Playoffs. Right-handed pitcher Miguel Asencio has been added to the roster from Triple-A Pawtucket and right-handed pitcher Bryce Cox has been added from Single-A Lancaster. Sea Dogs right-handed pitcher Adam Mills has been transferred to Triple-A Pawtucket. Outfielder Jered Stanley was removed from the active roster. The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will face the Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, for the fourth year in a row in the Eastern League Northern Division Championship Series. The best-of-five series gets underway tonight at 6:05 PM in Trenton, New Jersey.

The 27 year-old Asencio has spent the majority of the 2008 season with the Sea Dogs appearing in 33 games and posting a 2-4 record with a 5.50 ERA. Asencio has had three stints with Triple-A Pawtucket this season appearing in eight games and notching one save and 3.38 ERA. He was signed by the Boston Red Sox as a minor league free agent on January 21, 2008. Asencio has appeared in 42 Major League games with the Kansas City Royals and Colorado Rockies where he has a 7-8 career record with a 5.12 ERA.

Cox began the year with Single-A Greenville compiling a 1-0 record with four saves and 1.50 ERA in 14 games earning him a promotion to Single-A Lancaster on June 5th. In 27 games for the JetHawks, Cox has notched a 2-2 record with one save and a 5.80 ERA. Cox was the eighth ranked prospect in the organization according to Baseball America in 2007 and began the year with the Sea Dogs. In nine games with Portland, Cox posted a 1-1 record with a 4.91 ERA before being assigned to Single-A Greenville on June 8th. Cox would finish the season at Greenville with a 1-1 record and a 5.40 ERA in 21 games. The 24 year-old was drafted by the Red Sox in third round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

Mills, 23 years-old, will start Game Three for the Pawsox of the first round of the International League Playoffs on Friday night against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. Mills began the season with Single-A Lancaster posting a 7-4 record with a 4.43 ERA. He joined the Sea Dogs on July 3rd, in 11 starts Mills has an 0-5 record with 4.00 ERA. Mills was drafted by the Red Sox in the eighth round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.

Outfielder Jered Stanley spent the majority of the season with Single-A Greenville hitting .270 with 17 home runs and 54 RBI in 77 games. Stanley appeared in eight games for the Sea Dogs hitting .180 with one home run and 3 RBI. The 23 year-old Stanley was signed by the Red Sox as a non-drafted free agent on August 15, 2007.

Eastern League playoff rosters consist of 24 active players. The Sea Dogs will carry 12 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders, and three outfielders.

Games Three and Four (if necessary) of the eastern League Northern Division Series will take place at Hadlock Field on Friday, September 5th at 7:00 PM and Saturday, September 6th at 6:00 PM. In the event of a postponement, the games will be pushed back one day.
