SD Loyal Releases 2023 Regular Season Schedule

SAN DIEGO - San Diego Loyal SC released its 2023 USL Championship regular season schedule today which includes 17 home matches at Torero Stadium. Head Coach Nate Miller's team is also scheduled to play 17 matches on the road. The 34-match season schedule begins with the home and season opener on Saturday, March 11 at 7 p.m. against Detroit City FC. 2023 Season Ticket Memberships and Group Tickets are on sale now.. The 2023 USL Championship structure includes two 12-team conferences with SD Loyal continuing to compete in the Western Conference. For the competition format, SD Loyal will face every team in the Western Conference twice: once at home, and once away. The remaining 12 matches of the season will be played against teams from the Eastern Conference: six at home and six away.

SD Loyal kicks off the 2023 season with back-to-back home matches. After the home opener, SD Loyal faces conference rivals Phoenix Rising FC on March 19. The consecutive home matches are followed by a pair of road matches at Sacramento Republic FC (March 25) and away at Phoenix (April 1).

Miller's club has three home matches in April against FC Tulsa (April 8), Tampa Bay Rowdies (April 23) and El Paso Locomotive FC (April 29) while facing New Mexico United (April 15) on the road. The schedule in May includes three road matches against Orange County SC (May 6), Miami FC (May 20) and against Oakland Roots SC (May 27) in a rematch of last year's first round playoff match. Rio Grande Valley FC comes to San Diego for the lone home match of the month (May 13).

The summer months have SD Loyal playing against the league's defending champion San Antonio FC twice in June. SD Loyal begins the month with a road match against the defending champs (June 3) before returning to Torero Stadium to host Sacramento (June 9) and San Antonio (June 14). The club ends the month at Eastern Conference opponent Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (June 24).

SD Loyal has three consecutive road matches scheduled in July against Indy Eleven (July 1), Hartford Athletic (July 8) and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (July 14) before coming home to face Colorado Springs again (July 29).

August has Miller's club playing at home four matches in-a-row against Orange County (Aug. 5), Loudoun United FC (Aug. 9), Memphis 901 FC (Aug. 12) and New Mexico (Aug. 19). SD Loyal finishes the month on the road at Rio Grande Valley (Aug. 26).

September sees a more balanced schedule with three matches at home against Birmingham Legion FC (Sept. 3), Las Vegas Lights FC (Sept. 24), Monterey Bay F.C. (Sept. 30) and three away at Charleston Battery (Sept. 9), Louisville City FC (Sept. 16) and Monterey Bay (Sept. 20).

The final part of the regular season comes in October when SD Loyal is slated to host Oakland in the second to last match (Oct. 7). The club will travel to El Paso (Oct. 4) before ending the regular season at Las Vegas (Oct. 14). The USL Championship playoffs are slated to begin the following week.

SD Loyal is coming off a second-consecutive playoff appearance in 2022 in only its third season after a second place finish in the Western Conference.
