San Diego Loyal News Release
San Diego, CA - San Diego Loyal Soccer Club (SD Loyal) announced today the signing of Jordan Chavez, Austin Guerrero and Ben Spencer, pending league and federation approval. The players will join the Club for its inaugural USL Championship season in 2020, which returns to play after a long hiatus against defending title-holder Real Monarchs SLC at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, July 11.
SD Loyal is excited to add two San Diego natives, specifically from Chula Vista, to the roster- Defender Jordan Chavez and Goalkeeper Austin Guerrero. Chavez spent more of his professional career playing for local clubs including Albion SC and Chula Vista FC. Guerrero most recently played for Portland Timbers U23s after stints with UANL Tigres, Altamira FC and Puebla FC. Forward Ben Spencer joins SD Loyal after playing for Phoenix Rising FC and internationally for the United States U18.
In addition to these great additions, it's with a heavy heart the club says goodbye to Assistant Coach Carrie Taylor. Statement from the club below:
"Carrie Taylor has resigned from SD Loyal SC. We value Carrie's dedication, drive and desire to win. We recognize and appreciate her work to help build Team 1, as she was an integral piece to establishing this club. She's choosing to refocus her energies on continuing to grow the women's game for players and female coaches with an emphasis on helping underserved communities nationally and internationally gain greater access to sport. We wish her the very best."
Aside from duties as SD Loyal's Senior Advisor, Shannon MacMillan has been promoted to the front office leadership team as the Primary Analyst for all broadcasted matches. The front office also welcomes Stefani Polonia as its Ticket Sales Manager. The SDSU alum joins the city's newest men's professional soccer team after working for the San Diego Seals.
