Scratch the Hardhats, add the Pennsylvania Pit Bulls
Published on September 28, 2004 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA Co-Founder, today announced that the Pittsburgh Hardhats would be replaced this season by the Pennsylvania Pit Bulls under the supervision of Freddie Lewis, former ABA/NBA Indiana Pacer legend. According to Newman, "For health and personal reasons, Kenny Powell, the owner of the Pittsburgh Hardhats was not able to proceed with the team. The team will play in the Pittsburgh area.
Lewis added, "This is my hometown. I grew up in McKeesport and have wanted to return for many years. This is a tremendous opportunity for me personally - and I can assure the people of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania that we'll put together a tremendous team. We have a lot of work to do, but we are up to the task."
The Pit Bulls can be reached at solomonproject@sbcglobal.net.
