Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage have re-signed All-Star goaltender Scott Reid, who returns for his second year between the pipes for the club after setting a new team record with 25 victories last season. The Rage now have 16 players under contract for the upcoming 2008-09 Central Hockey League season.

Reid's 25 wins marked the third highest total in the CHL as he compiled a record of 25-14-4 with a 3.23 goals against average and .900 save percentage last season. He was a real workhorse for the Rage, appearing in 44 games on his way to logging more than 2,500 minutes in goal, also the league's third highest total.

By leading the league in victories at the All-Star Break last year, Reid garnered his fourth CHL All-Star nod and begins this coming season ranked in the top 10 in league history with 121 wins (7th) and 11 shutouts (6th). The CHL's 2003-04 Most Outstanding Goaltender also played a total of 21 games in the American Hockey League during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.

"Scott Reid is an elite goaltender at this level, and it's reassuring to know that we'll always have a chance to win when he's in net," said Rage Head Coach and General Manager Tracy Egeland. "He showed some real grit last season when he played with an injury during the second half, and I know he's real motivated to help us get into the playoffs where he's second to none."

Three times throughout this career Reid has led his club to the President's Cup Playoffs. In 2006-07 he helped spring the New Mexico Scorpions into the Southern Conference Finals with a 44-save performance in a Game Seven, 3-2 victory over the Arizona Sundogs.

And in 2004-05, the Alberta native put on one of the best post-season goaltending clinics in CHL history. During a first round loss to the eventual President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks, Reid willed the San Angelo Saints to overtime of Game Seven by shutting out the Bucks in each of San Angelo's three victories. The three shutouts in just one series tied a league record for most shutouts in a single playoff year. For his career, Reid is 10-10 in the post-season with a 2.12 goals against average and .935 save percentage.

"The way last year ended - not feeling 100% and missing the playoffs - left a sour taste in my mouth. But it's behind me now, I feel good, and I'm ready to move on," said Reid. "I'm just excited to get camp started and get the season going."
