Scotiabank Championships scenarios

Published on September 26, 2006 under Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release

Toronto, ON (September 26, 2006) - As the 2006 season enters Week #16, wins and losses begin to determine what teams will qualify for the Scotiabank Championships.

The Scotiabank Championships are comprised of the Scotiabank East Semi-Final, the Scotiabank West Semi-Final, the Scotiabank East Championship and the Scotiabank West Championship.

This past weekend the Calgary Stampeders defeated the Toronto Argonauts 39-18, becoming the first team in 2006 to qualify for the Scotiabank Championships.

With a full slate of games this weekend, including a triple header on Saturday, the post-season destiny of the other clubs could be determined.

Scotiabank Championships Scenarios:

The BC Lions can clinch a Scotiabank Championships berth with a win or a tie against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday.

Any combination of Saskatchewan wins and Edmonton losses that equal three will eliminate the Eskimos from qualifying for the Scotiabank Championships in the West Division (barring no ties). Edmonton could still crossover to the East.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers can clinch a Scotiabank Championships berth with a win combined with an Edmonton loss.

A Winnipeg win or a Hamilton loss would end the Ticats Scotiabank Championships aspirations.

The Toronto Argonauts can clinch a Scotiabank Championships berth with a win combined with an Edmonton loss.

The Montreal Alouettes can clinch a Scotiabank Championships berth with a win combined with an Edmonton loss.
