
Scorpions to Conduct Player Tryouts November 5

WHO: Prospects who want to play for the San Antonio Scorpions FC, new professional soccer team that will begin competition next spring in the North American Soccer League, one step removed from Major League Soccer (MLS).
WHAT: Player tryouts conducted by Scorpions Head Coach Tim Hankinson. (Prospects must register in advance - either in person at the STAR Soccer Complex or online at www.SanAntonioScorpions.com. No walk-up candidates Nov. 5 will be admitted.) A tryout was held last month in Arizona, and another has been scheduled for Maryland in early December. Select players will be invited to the San Antonio Invitation-Only Combine, Dec. 17-18. Tryout information also is available at (210) 637-3413.
WHEN: 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011.
WHERE: STAR (South Texas Area Regional) Soccer Complex, 5103 David Edwards Drive in Northeast San Antonio (near the intersection of Thousand Oaks Drive and Wurzbach Parkway) next to Morgan's Wonderland.
WHY: To continue building the team that will play in support of Morgan's Wonderland, the world's first ultra-accessible family fun park designed with special-needs individuals of all ages in mind.
ETC.: Soccer for a Cause is bringing pro soccer to San Antonio, Texas, to further boost the sport's growing popularity and to expand educational programs and services at non-profit Morgan's Wonderland.
