
Scorpion Richard Menjivar to Represent El Salvador

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Wednesday, June 4, 2014) - San Antonio Scorpions midfielder Richard Menjivar will represent El Salvador when they take on defending World Champions Spain and the Ivory Coast in pre-World Cup international friendlies this week.
First, La Azul y Blanco will play the Ivorians tonight at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX . Then on June 7th, El Salvador will go head to head with La Furia Roja at FedEx Field in Landover, MD.
"Playing for your country is one of the highest honors you can achieve as a player," said Head Coach Alen Marcina. "We're incredibly pleased for Richie to participate in two very high profile games against teams that will be playing in the World Cup in Brazil. We're also very proud to have him represent the Scorpions and Soccer for a Cause on an international level."
Menjivar has been capped 10 times in his career by El Salvador, including appearances in Olympic qualifiers and the Copa Centroamericana.
The next Scorpions home match - and last match of the 2014 NASL Spring Season - will be on June 7th at 7:30pm against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers.
San Antonio will host three major international friendlies this summer at Toyota Field. On June 21st at 7:30pm, they will face Tigres de la UANL. June 28th at 7:30pm, the Scorpions play the Mexican National Team Under-21 squad and then on July 6th at 6:00pm, the Scorpions will take on Club de Fútbol Monterrey.
