
Schimpf and French Receive WCL's Moss Adams Weekly Honors

The West Coast League's Moss Adams Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league commissioner Rob Neyer, are Southeastern Louisiana senior-to-be first baseman Kyle Schimpf of the Port Angeles Lefties and future Central Washington pitcher Hunter French of the Yakima Valley Pippins for the week of June 4-10.
Schimpf led the first-place Lefties to 5-1 week. The left-handed hitting slugger went 6-for-18 with 9 runs scored, 2 homers, 6 RBIs and 3 stolen bases.
This past spring, Schimpf hit .249 with 10 doubles, 7 home runs and 45 RBIs for the Lions.
French made two appearances for the Pippins tossing 9 combined innings without giving up an earned run while striking out 10 and walking only one. He picked up a win in a June 8 home start vs. Bend where he twirled 6 solid innings in a 10-2 Yakima Valley victory.
Hunter French went 3-1 with a 4.05 ERA this past spring as a sophomore at Columbia Basin College in the NWAC.
