Sanford signs with Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club announced they have re-signed running back Robert Sanford. Details of the contract were not released.

Sanford joined the Roughriders last season and started one game at running back, recording 19 rushing yards on seven carries. The 24-year old spent three seasons at Western Michigan University where he finished his college career as the school's all-time leading rusher with 4,219 yards.

PRO: Signed by the Roughriders as free agent in April, 2003...originally signed with Chicago Bears in January of 2002.

2003: Started one game at running back...made Rider and CFL debut in week 4 against Winnipeg...had seven rushes for 19 yards...also had one reception for 12 yards...spent remainder of season on practice roster.

2002: Spent season on Chicago Bears practice roster.

COLLEGE: Spent three seasons at Western Michigan University...finished college career as the school's all-time leading rusher with 4,219 career rushing yards, the third highest total in Mid-American Conference history...also set a school record with 43 career TD's and ranked second with 838 career carries...earned MAC Offensive Player of the Year, first team all-MAC and team Offensive MVP honours for 2000 after his career-best 1,571-yard rushing campaign, the second highest total in WMU history.
