
San Jose's Grieb Voted Week 18 National Guard MVP

TULSA, Okla. - For the second straight week, San Jose QB MARK GRIEB has been named the National Guard MVP of the Week for his performance in Week 18 of the 2011 AFL season, as voted on by fans.
Grieb pounded the competition again on Facebook.com with 55 percent of the fans' votes. Grieb kept San Jose in the playoff picture with a win over the Orlando Predators in Week 18, 60-40. The 12-year veteran threw for 295-yards and five touchdowns, completing over 80 percent. Grieb shared the wealth to his receivers, passing to six different receivers throughout the night.
The SaberCats (6-9) will travel to the Spokane Shock (8-8) in Week 19 on Saturday, July 16 at 10:00 p.m. EST for playoff implications in the West Division.
Other candidates for the award included Dallas WR Tiger Jones and Pittsburgh WR Mike Washington.
About the AFL Since its inception in 1987, the AFL has provided the fast-paced and exciting game of Arena Football to millions of fans in a myriad of markets across the country. The NFL Network will once again broadcast an AFL National Game of the Week for the entire regular and post season on Friday nights at 8:00 pm EST, culminating with the ArenaBowl Championship Game on August 12.
