San Francisco Dragons Earn First Franchise Win Over Chicago Machine

Chicago, IL - The San Francisco Dragons (1-1) came into Chicago looking for their first franchise win, and they will leave the Windy City having done so in convincing fashion. The Dragons offense exploded for a total of 21 points, with players Ryan Powell and Nate Watkins each contributing a hat trick to the Dragons' offensive effort. Brad Reppert, and Matt Alrich each added four goals in front of the 2,173 fans in attendance.

The Chicago Machine (0-3) got off to a good start, as they scored three unanswered goals in the opening minutes of the game, but the Dragons could not be held for long, as they then went on an 8-0 run, never to trail again. The Chicago Machine, along with the Dragons, a part of the MLL's new Western Conference, is still searching for its first franchise win.

Leading the Dragons' onslaught was the game's MVP, rookie Brad Reppert, who in addition to scoring four goals had two assists and one loose ball. Also contributing to the Dragons' offensive surge was newly drafted Joe Yevoli with two goals, two assists and three loose balls. Yevoli, a speedy Attackman out of Syracuse University, was the Dragons' first pick (19th overall) in Wednesday's 2006 MLL Collegiate Draft.

On the Dragons defensive side, star defensemen Eric Martin added five loose balls and one assist, while Australian face-off specialist Peter Inge also did his part to help the team. Although he had an off-day in regards to face-off opportunities (4-13), Inge picked up eight loose balls to fuel the Dragons' offensive engine.

Contributing to Chicago's offense was Sean Morris, newly acquired from Wednesday's draft. Morris, who had two goals, one assist and three loose balls, was the first pick (3rd overall) for the Chicago Machine. Chicago's second pick (7th overall) in the draft was Defenseman Michael Culver who picked up five loose balls in Chicago's losing effort.

The San Francisco Dragons next travel to Denver for a rematch against the Outlaws on June 10th at 6:30 p.m. PDT. Today's game against the Chicago Machine will be telecast on Comcast SportsNet tomorrow, Sunday June 4th at 5:00 p.m. PDT.
