San Diego Wildcats Defeat Rumble At Home

San Diego, CA - The San Diego Wildcats of the American Basketball Association (ABA) defeated the San Francisco Rumble Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Ray and Joan Kroc Center. The San Diego Wildcats came into the match up leading the ABA western conference with a 7-0 record and only looked to improve their impressive record.

The San Diego Wildcats came in to the game with an impressive 7-0 record and fresh off a hard fought 110-89 victory against the Maywood Buzz at home November 28th. Cardell " Ballaholic" Butler was the first Wildcat to score early in the first. In the first quarter the Wildcats looked to score deep with in the paint. Jerome Habel drilled a 16 foot jumper, and guard Cardell " Ballaholic" Butler waited calmly for the bounce pass inside as he found teammate Greg Clark, who completed a slam dunk. With 7:17 on the clock the score was 15-13 Wildcats. Prentice Harris crossed over a defender for two. 17-13 Wildcats. Cardell Butler stayed with his shot and worked hard on the offensive glass to score a lay-up, and Michael McNair followed with a jumper. The San Francisco Rumble, however, continued to score at will and with 4:43 left the score was tied at 22. Michael McNair scored an easy lay-up ofF a fast break and put the Wildcats a head by three with 4:08 left in the quarter. Wildcats 25 - Rumble 22. Prentice Harris nailed a three and Marc Carter kissed the ball off the glass to complete a lay-up. 30-24 Wildcats. With three-d in effect Prentice Harris squared his shoulders for four. At the end of the first the score was 37-32 Wildcats.

Prentice Harris continued to have the hot hand for the Wildcats as he opened the second quarter with a three. 40-34 Wildcats. Cardell Butler penetrated to the basket to add a deuce. The Wildcats struggled to take care of the ball and committed several turnovers for much of the second quarter, until Jerome Habel jammed one home and teammate Michael McNair followed Habel with a slam-dunk of his own. With 7:33 to go in the half the score was Wildcats 49- Rumble 43. The Rumble continued to score at will from all areas of the floor ant with 6:48 the score was tied for a second time at 49. With 6:14 to go in the half the Rumble forced the Wildcats to take a full time out as they took the lead. 49- 51 Rumble. Leonard Mosley brought the Wildcats within with an 18-foot jumper. With 4:01 to go in the first half 52-54 Rumble. During a time out late in the second quarter you could read the Wildcats frustration all over Cardell " Ballaholic" Butler's face. Greg Clark drilled a much need three late in the quarter and gave the Wildcats a 59-58 lead and momentum. With 1:05 left in the half the Wildcats went big in their line up with Clark, Habel, and Kendrick, and Mosley and Butler. At the end of the half the score was 72-63 Wildcats.

In the first possession of the second half the Wildcats penetrated strong to the basket and looked for the Rumble to commit the foul. The Rumble did just that and sent forward Greg Clark to the line. Greg Clark completed both of the free throws to increase the Wildcats lead. 74-63. Greg Clark continued to be a scoring force to be reckoned with for the Wildcats as he followed with a sixteen-foot jumper. Then Marc Carter hit a jumper, and on the defensive stole the ball from a rumble, and it was off to the races as he was fouled while completing a lay-up. With 9:10 to go in the third the score was 80- 68 Wildcats. Leonard Mosley picked up a loose ball in the paint and scored for the Wildcats and was fouled, he completed the four point play as three-d was in effect. 84-68 Wildcats. Cardell "Ballaholic" Butler assisted teammate Jerome Habel with a high-flying slam-dunk. With 5:33 to go in the third the Wildcats led the Rumble 91-73. The San Francisco Rumble would just not go away and were within eight with 2:49 to go in the quarter the score was 92-80 Wildcats. Leonard Mosley got the crowd fired up as he flushed down a jam and then on the next possession laid one in off the glass. With 1:23 to go in the quarter the Wildcats led 97-82. Leonard Mosley and Greg Clark were unstoppable, as they dominated the third quarter for the Wildcats. At the end of three the Wildcats led the Rumble 104-84.

Cardell " Ballaholic" Butler opened the fourth quarter scoring for the Wildcats with an extraordinary slam- dunk. Leonard Mosley was overtly satisfied with Wildcats style of play as he high fives his teammates on the bench and was animated with motivating comments. Jamal Kendrick scored for the Wildcats late in the quarter and increased the Wildcats score with a jumper and three pointer with 7:40 to in the game the score was 115-96 Wildcats. Butler continued assisting his teammates in scoring, as he and Habel teamed up for a slam-dunk. 123-98 Wildcats. The Wildcats dominated late in the fourth quarter as they out hustled the Rumble for loose balls and scored at will Habel chipped in two, and Mosley, Graham, and McNair all scored from beyond the arc. When all was said and done the Wildcats had improved to 8-0 as they had defeated the Rumble 144-115.
