San Diego Spirit News Release
The Spirit is currently in a club-record four-game losing streak, but looking to a match with the league leading Charge on Sunday to get their season kick-started again. The Spirit played well against Washington, and had several chances to equalize in a 1-0 game during the second half, only to let in three goals in the final 10 minutes. The Spirit suffered more than a loss in the standings as starting defenders Rhiannon Tanaka and Joy Fawcett, and forward Shannon MacMillan, all left the game with injuries. QUOTE SHEET:
Kevin Crow on the 10th different lineup...
"Ideally, you should not be doing this with your lineup at this stage of the season, but if you look at it we played a pretty good game tonight."
Crow on the game until the first score...
"It was a fairly even game, until we gave them a silly mistake leading to their first goal."
Crow on the injuries...
"You never like injuries, but they are a part of the game. The players that are put in have to step up and play and for the most part they did a pretty good job of that tonight."
Crow on lack of finishing...
"It's 1-0, we come out and should have scored two or three goals, but we don't. You have goals and miss them, the entire complexity of the game changes at that point. When you get the chances you must put them away and we are not putting them away."
