San Diego Spirit News Release
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Spirit have waived defender Amy Sauer and added former reserve team midfielder Allie Sullivan to the 16-player active roster. Sauer, who cleared waivers, has re-signed with the Spirit as a reserve team player.
WUSA rosters consist of 16 active players, two reserves and two developmental players. The WUSA allows 16 players on travel rosters and if all 16 active players are healthy, they make up the travel squad. With midfielder Jen Nielsen still on the injured reserve list with a broken toe, Susan Bush will travel to Boston with the Spirit for the match that kicks off at 3:30 p.m. PT at Gillette Stadium, as part of a WUSA/MLS doubleheader with the MLS New England Revolution. Sullivan has added a spark to the Spirit's attack early in the season and has registered one assist. Sauer, who started 18 games last season, has yet to play after recovering from an ankle injury suffered in pre-season training.
