San Diego Sockers Match Notes: Monterrey Flash, December 28,
December 28, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
San Diego Sockers News Release
Playoff rivals meet in an early-season clash which could be meaningful later in the season for playoff seeding. The Sockers, who lost to the Flash in last year's Western Conference Finals, are finishing its fifth game in a span of 12 days, three in the last six and two in the last three.
The team should receive a boost in confidence from its offensive performance against Dallas on Wednesday night. Prior to that game, San Diego had scored only four goals in each of its first three games and missed many opportunities for more. The team found its scoring touch and the back of the net for a season-high nine goals.
Defensively, San Diego is holding its opponents to under four goals a game. Boris Pardo has backstopped the Sockers to a 3-1 record with solid performances in goal. Monterrey is led by M Miguel Vaca, F Brayan Aguilar and F Franck Tayou.
Keys to a victory in Mexico include eliminating defensive lapses, making the most of their scoring chances, and keeping the match close into the fourth quarter.
