
San Antonio Silver Stars Sign Two Players

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Silver Stars have signed guards Yvonne Turner and Julie Wojta, head coach and general manager Dan Hughes announced today. As per team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
A first-team All-Big 12 selection and co-Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, Turner has been playing professionally overseas for three seasons after graduating from Nebraska in 2010. A three-time member of the All-Big 12 Defensive Team, Turner helped lead the Huskers to the best season in school history in 2009-10 as the team reached the NCAA Sweet 16 with a 32-2 overall record including a 16-0 mark in conference play. Turner is currently playing overseas for Russia's Dynamo GUVD where she is averaging 14.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game through 20 games to date. She has also played professionally in Australia and Germany.
A 6-0 guard/forward, Wojta was selected by Minnesota in the second round (18th overall) of the 2012 WNBA Draft out of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and played in one game with the Lynx last season. The Horizon League Player and Defensive Player of the Year, Wojta set the program record with 35 double-doubles during her collegiate career. A three-time All-Horizon League selection, she led the league in scoring average (19.5) and steals per game (3.8) as a senior. Wojta is currently playing overseas for Belgium's Belfius Namur where she is averaging 16.0 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
