San Angelo Saints News Release
San Angelo, TX--With the pitching staff depleted, Toby Rumfield turned the baseball over to one of his big guns out of the bullpen, Sam Greco and asked him to make his 1st start of the season. Just take us 5 innings said Rumfield, and we'll be fine. Turned out Greco would go 7 1/3 innings, surrendering just 3 runs on 7 hits as he would leave Foster Field with a 3-3 ballgame at hand. His teammates would rally to score 3 times in the bottom of the 8th, keyed by a Kasey Wilson bases loaded single, and a Tony James 2 run scoring single, also with the bases loaded.
The Colts would allow the Roadrunners an unearned run in the 9th, but Chris Flanagan who got the start the day before, pitched the final 1 2/3 to get the win, his 4th of the season. The Roadrunners got their first 2 runs on a Ryan Lehr 2-run single in the 1st. San Angelo would answer in the 2nd with an Eddie Gerald homer, his 4th of the season to cut the lead in half. Aaron Sisk tacked on a solo shot in the 4th to increase the lead back up to 2, but the Colts would tie it up in the 6th, on a Juan Rocha solo shot, his team leading 9th of the year. Dan Valentin pitched 7 strong innings for the Roadrunners, but would also leave with the game tied and get a no-decision. The Colts have now taken 3 in a row from the leaders in the West, and have closed the margin to just 4 games with 12 to play.
