There was some trading going on the past week.

The Wings traded catcher Danny Elkin for San Angelo slugger Brian Nichols. The Colts needed a catcher and the Wings wanted more hitting power so the trade was made.

Nichols began playing for Laredo in 2007, after playing in the ULB Winter League. He later was traded to the WhiteWings, where he finished the season and part of the 2008 season. He finished out 2008 with the Alexandria Aces.

The Broncos also acquired the services of Luany Sanchez, from Shreveport-Bossier City in the American Association. Sanchez was with the Broncos last year, hitting .319 in 77 games, with 18 home runs. He was named the MVP in the All-Star game.

The WhiteWings new catcher is Justin Holloway, who hit a solo home run his first time at bat.

Another trade involved Alfred Joseph, a graduate of Corpus Christi Moody High School, from the WhiteWings to the Thunder, for a future player. He had indicated he would like to play for the Thunder and be close to home, so the negotiations resulted.

Upcoming games include:

Through Sunday (July 5) Coastal Bend at Amarillo; Rio Grande Valley at Edinburg; and San Angelo at Laredo.

July 6-July 9 - Amarillo at Rio Grande Valley; Edinburg at Coastal Bend; and Laredo at San Angelo.
