Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs on Thursday announced a three-game exhibition schedule, ahead of the 2010 regular season. Lincoln will take on the Kansas City T-Bones in Beatrice on May 7, face the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in York on May 8, and return to Haymarket Park for another game against the RedHawks on May 9.
The Saltdogs return to Beatrice a year after playing an abbreviated doubleheader at Christenson Field, during which Lincoln lost one game and tied the other against Fargo-Moorhead. The 'Dogs also played an exhibition game in Beatrice in 2008, defeating Wichita 11-2. This season on May 7, Christenson Field will host the Saltdogs and Kansas City, another of Lincoln's former Northern League foes. The two teams played each other on a regular basis between 2003 and 2005 when Lincoln was a Northern League member. The Saltdogs went 22-22 against Kansas City during those three years, and beat the T-Bones 11-10 last year in a wild exhibition game at Haymarket Park. This year's game begins at 6pm.
On May 8, the Saltdogs will head west to York, where they'll meet Fargo-Moorhead for a 6pm exhibition game at East Hill Park. The RedHawks are another team Lincoln knows well from its Northern League days. The Dogs went 21-29 in regular-season play against Fargo between 2001 and 2005, and their playoff series loss to the RedHawks in 2005 marked Lincoln's last-ever Northern League games. Before the game, Saltdogs players will conduct a youth baseball clinic at 3pm, followed by an autograph session.
After the York game, both teams return to Lincoln for an exhibition game on May 9 at 6pm. The game will serve as the preseason party for all Saltdogs season-ticket holders, and all other fans will be able to purchase tickets for any available seat at just five dollars per ticket.
The 2009 Lincoln Saltdogs season begins on May 14 in Wichita, with the home opener scheduled for May 22 against Fort Worth. For more team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com .
