Salmon Kings Sign Another Former Lethbridge Hurricane

Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Not satisfied with coming within 45 seconds of playing .500 hockey on their first ever road trip, the Salmon Kings continue to tinker with their line-up.
"This league is about small moves that hopefully lead to bigger things. So you can't sit still or you'll get passed," said Salmon King Coach and General Manager Bryan Maxwell. "That is the reason for what happened here today," added Maxwell in reference to his signing of 23 year old Ryan Watson and the release of Kristjan Jefkins.
Watson played 110 games for the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Centre Hockey League over the last two seasons collecting 38 goals and 36 assists. Watson then attended camp this year with the ECHL's Trenton Titans before being put on waivers earlier this week. Maxwell snapped him up immediately.
Watson, a 6'3", 200lb. right winger, adds to the list of Salmon Kings players having their second go around under Coach Maxwell. "I played for Bryan in Lethbridge and have tremendous respect for his abilities as a coach and teacher," said Watson.
Known for his speed Watson has also continued to fill out over the last several years. "Ryan didn't have this size when he played for me in junior (Lethbridge) so he plays a little different style now. He should fit in real well with this team," said Maxie.
The signing of Ryan Watson also forced another roster move. Gone is the colourful Kristjan Jefkins who garnered some pre-training camp popularity as a prime story line on the hit CBC show, "Making the Cut." Jefkins appeared in the first three Salmon Kings regular season games but finished with no points.
In addition forward Ryan Finnerty, injured in the first pre-season game, has been placed back on the 7 day disabled list. Though he has missed the first three games of the season Finnerty is expected back for the next start.
The Victoria Salmon Kings are back in practice mode now with skates taking place at Bear Mountain Arena. The Salmon Kings are in preparation for their next match-up, a two game series in Boise against the Idaho Steelheads, the defending Kelly Cup Champions on November 5 and 6, 2004.
