Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have signed forward Milan Gajic for the 2010-11 season.

The 29-year-old rejoins the Salmon Kings after spending the 2009-10 season split between the ECHL's Florida Everblades and AHL's Albany River Rats. In 33 games with the Everblades he registered 42 points (15g-27a) and 26 minutes in penalties, while recording one goal in six games during his time in Albany. Gajic also dressed for nine Kelly Cup Playoff games with Florida this spring where he scored seven goals and nine assists for 16 points.

"It is great to get Milan back in a Salmon Kings' jersey," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison. "His offensive production in this league speaks for itself, and he will be an integral part of this year's roster."

Gajic averaged 1.27 points-per-game with the Everblades last season and that ranked 10th in the entire ECHL among players with 30 or more games played. His 1.78 points-per-game average in this spring's Kelly Cup Playoffs ranked first in the ECHL of any player with at least six games played. In the 2009 Kelly Cup Playoffs, Gajic scored 12 points (5g-7a) in nine games for a 1.33 points-per-game average, which ranked tied for second among all playoff skaters in the ECHL with at least nine games played.

The Burnaby, BC native began the 2008-09 campaign with 34 games in Denmark where he tallied 31 points (13g-18a) and 16 penalty minutes. After returning to North America, Gajic signed with the Salmon Kings and played in four games (registering one assist) before being traded to the Everblades where he finished the season scoring 25 points (9g-16a) in 18 games played with 12 minutes in penalties.

The 6-0, 180 pound forward spent the majority of the 2007-08 season with the Salmon Kings recording 40 points (15g-25a) in 35 games while serving 14 penalty minutes. Gajic also dressed in 27 games in the AHL that season between the Moose and Houston Aeros, totaling seven goals and seven assists for 14 points with 10 minutes in penalties.

Gajic posted professional career-best numbers with the Salmon Kings in the 2006-07 season, amassing 65 points (24g-41a) in 63 games while accruing 70 penalty minutes. He also spent time with the Moose that year; posting five points (2g-3a) in six games played.

In 2005-06, Gajic began his professional career with time split between the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators and AHL's Providence Bruins. The majority of his season was in Gwinnett where he dressed for 41 games and scored 58 points (25g-33a) while registering 14 minutes in penalties. In 17 games with the Bruins he notched one assist and 10 penalty minutes.

For his professional career, Gajic has accumulated 283 points (111g-172a) and 172 minutes in penalties over 284 contests. Although, his 34 games in Denmark do not count towards the veteran total

The forward was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Prior to turning professional, Gajic had a four-year junior career with the University of Michigan Wolverines. In 158 career games he scored 53 goals and assisted on 62 others for 115 points with 148 penalty minutes. In three of the four years Gajic attended school, the Wolverines were Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) champions, and twice made it to the NCAA Frozen Four Tournament. Also, in his senior year at UM, Gajic was awarded the Alton D. Simms trophy as the most improved varsity hockey player.

In the 2000-01 season before joining the Wolverines, Gajic played for the BCHL's Burnaby Bulldogs, where he scored 98 points (46g-52a) in 50 games played with 84 minutes in penalties. Gajic's 46 goals and 98 points both led the club.
