Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Arthur Brey made 18 saves Saturday and the Waterloo Black Hawks were held off the scoreboard for the first time this season during a 3-0 loss to the Dubuque Fighting Saints at Mystique Ice Center.
After 20 scoreless minutes, the Saints broke the seal on the net at 4:36 of the second period. Shane Sooth dropped a pass to Mike Szmatula, who snapped a wrist shot into the net during a power play.
Ten-and-a-half minutes into the third, Szmatula knocked in his second of the game on the rebound of a Niklas Nevalainen shot. Evan Janssen sealed the decision with just under seven minutes to play, scoring in similar fashion after an initial chance by Eric Freschi.
After taking Sunday off, the Black Hawks return to the ice at Young Arena for a Monday game versus the Fargo Force. Tickets for the contest are available online from waterlooblackhawks.com, or by calling (319) 291-7680 after 9AM Monday morning.
