San Angelo Saints News Release
SAN ANGELO â The San Angelo Saints today are excited to announce the re-signing of last year's team captain, veteran defenseman Corri Moffat. This will mark the 3rd straight year Moffat has suited up for San Angelo where he has served as the team captain each of the past two seasons.
Despite battling various injuries most of last season, Moffat posted 7 goals and 27 assists (34 points) in 51 games for the Saints including 4 power play goals, which ranked him 5th on the team. The 6-0, 210 pound defenseman will also be counted on by new head coach Ray Edwards to bring veteran leadership to the team that was lacking under last year's system.
"Corri is the type of player everyone wants on their team," said Edwards. "He is a quality player and a quality person, and that is the kind of guys we are looking for to build our team for a much more successful season."
Moffat began his professional career in 1997 after playing at Regina University in Saskatchewan. In his first pro season he played an integral role in the El Paso Buzzards' WPHL Championship. In 366 career games Moffat has notched 51 goals and 178 assists to go along with 226 penalty minutes.
"Many of our fans didn't realize Corri was playing hurt most of last season," added Edwards. "But, that is the kind of player he is. He shows up every night and plays hard, and now that he is healthy again he should fit very well into the system we are going to run this year."
Originally from Stoughton, Saskatchewan, Moffat now makes San Angelo his home. He is married to Slade Moffat and they are expecting their first child in August.
