Saints in the City

San Angelo Saints News Release

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo Saints are proud to announce today that the team has launched a year-round public service campaign called Saints in the City. In the past the Saints have been heavily involved in the SAISD's DARE and Accelerated Reader programs and offered free hockey tickets to Honor Roll students via the Grades for Blades program. The team is now becoming even more involved in the local and area communities, particularly with hospitals, libraries, non-profit agencies and civic groups and clubs.

Some of the team's scheduled activities include monthly visits by players and our new Mascot to the Pediatrics Wards at both Shannon Hospital and San Angelo Community Medical Center, reading to kids at the Tom Green County and Ballinger Libraries, monthly "Saints Nights" at the Kid's Kingdom Park, delivering Meals for the Elderly, a blood drive with United Blood Services, a food drive with the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank, monthly free youth roller hockey clinics and various other events. Saints owner Jim Cook, his wife Nicole and the Saints organization are also the Co-Chairmen of the United Way of the Concho Valley's annual Day of Caring. A list of current scheduled events and dates is attached. The Saints will also continue the team's involvement in the various SAISD programs listed above.

"Service to the community is one of the things our organization really feels strongly about," said Saints Asst. GM Ray Edwards. "It's important that we give back to the communities that support us and we have made a long-term commitment to doing that in any way we can."

The Saints continue to be available to any organization that can utilize players, staff or the mascot for fundraising purposes. In a new twist - for the remainder of this off-season the team is also making itself available at no charge to local businesses for open houses, grand openings, major sales events or other activities that can be enhanced by the team's presence. For more information on booking player, staff and/or mascot appearances at your organization, business or event call the Saints office at 944-6253.

***The Saints will also be hosting their 1st Annual Town Hall Meeting on August 19th at the San Angelo Convention Center from 7-9 p.m. The team is inviting the entire local and area community to come out, meet the staff and make comments or ask questions. This is the public's chance to have their questions answered and any concerns addressed by Saints owner Jim Cook, head coach & Asst. GM Ray Edwards and the entire staff.
