Sahlen's Stadium Ticket Advisory for July 20 Flash Game
(Rochester, NY) - Due to an extremely high demand for tickets to Wednesday's Western New York Flash game against magicJack, the staff at Sahlen's Stadium is issuing the following advisory on tickets for the match, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
As of 4 p.m. on Friday, over 8,000 tickets have been sold to the match. Wednesday's game will be a homecoming for 16 Women's World Cup players, including eight from the United States Women's National Team that takes on Japan in the final on Sunday (2 p.m. EDT on ESPN). The Flash features Brazil's five-time World Player of the Year Marta and US National team young sensation Alex Morgan. magicJack features Pittsford native Abby Wambach, who scored the game-tying goal against Brazil in the quarterfinals and the game-winning goal against France in Wednesday's semifinal. Sahlen's Stadium has opened up reserved end seating behind the goal and upper deck seating in order to meet the demand for tickets.
Box office hours will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m. â" 2 p.m. and will re-open on Monday at 9 a.m. for regular business hours. Fans can also order tickets through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000. Tickets can also be purchased at area Wal-Mart stores in the electronic sections.
With over 8,000 presold tickets, Wednesday's match promises to be at least the second largest stand-alone crowd in WPS history. The largest came in WPS' inaugural game in 2009 when 14,832 fans turned out in Los Angeles. On May 22, the second-largest WPS crowd ever turned up at Sahlen's Stadium for the first-ever Flash-magicJack game, which saw 8,076 fans watch Western New York win 3-0.
Gates for the game open at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and the first 1,000 fans receive Abby Wambach bobbleheads. Additionally, the Mazda dealers of Buffalo and Rochester will be raffling off a free two year lease for a Mazda vehicle. To enter the raffle, bring donations for the Monroe and Ontario County foster families.
