Sacramento Sirens News Release
SACRAMENTO, CA (February 16, 2003) - Now that the SuperBowl is over, there's no local professional football until September right? WRONG! The 2002 WAFC Champion Sacramento Sirens are back with a new league and a new home field but the same championship team as last year. The Sirens look to begin the 2003 season in the same dominate fashion as 2002 by hosting an exhibition game against the San Francisco StingRayz on Saturday, February 22nd at 1:00p at Capital Christian High School located at 9470 Micron Avenue (Hwy 50 at Bradshaw exit).
During the off-season, the Sirens decided to make their practice field their home field for 2003 season games to maintain consistency. Although Capital Christian High School is a new venue for regular season games, the field was the Siren's practice facility for 2002.
"By changing our home field to Capital Christian, not only are we utilizing the same field for practices and games, but our games are now centrally located within the Sacramento area" said Gayle Totton, Sirens CEO. "This field is closer to our fans, easier to get to and since it's the team's practice facility, it seemed like a natural fit. It's a win-win situation for everyone."
The exhibition game against the StingRayz will be the first time the two teams have met since the 2002 season where the Sirens beat the StingRayz twice - once in Sacramento and again in San Francisco - with a combined score of 93-0. Admission to the game is $5.00 with free parking and Sirens giveaways included.
Season tickets can be purchased by contacting the Sirens front office at sirensfootball@yahoo.com, by phone at 916.492.5450 or at the exhibition game. Season ticket benefits include admission to the exhibition game plus every regular and post season home games, parking, a Sirens lanyard, complimentary voucher for a guest and merchandise and concession coupons. Groups of 10 or more may purchase group tickets at a savings of $2 off each adult ticket. Additional information can be found on the Sirens website at www.sacramentosirens.com.
