3-03-08: Re-signed forwards Rebekkah Brunson and Nicole Powell to four-year contracts.

Los Angeles Sparks 74, Sacramento Monarchs 66

Saturday, June 14, 2008, 7:00 P.M. PDT at ARCO Arena

- Sacramento started the game on a 12-0 run and held the Sparks to a .250 field goal percentage in the first quarter while also outscoring them 22-to-8.

- The Monarchs forced three shot-clock violations in the first half.

- Sacramento shot .571 from the three-point line for the game.

- Chelsea Newton suffered a mild concussion with 4:48 left in the fourth quarter.

- Rebekkah Brunson had a game-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds, two steals and a block.

- Nicole Powell had 13 points (3-for-5 from the three-point line) and five rebounds.

MONARCHS CALENDAR

Friday, June 20 - Sacramento Monarchs vs. Connecticut Sun, 7:00 PM PDT

Sacramento fell to Connecticut, 87-64, earlier this season at the Mohegan Sun Arena and face the Sun for the second time in 2008 with a match-up at ARCO Arena on June 20.

Sunday, June 22 - Sacramento Monarchs vs. Chicago Sky, 6:00 PM PDT

The Monarchs host the second meeting with the Chicago Sky on Sunday at ARCO Arena. Sacramento holds a 3-1 all-time series record against the Sky, with the only loss coming in double overtime on June 29, 2007 in Sacramento.

Birthday Alert!

Monarchs forward Nicole Powell turns 26 on Sunday, June 22. Powell missed tying her career-high in points by the narrowest of margins as she scored 28 points in Sacramento's 79-76 victory over Washington on June 11, then led the team with 18 points in the 82-78 win over Minnesota the next day.

2008 Special Events at Monarchs Games During the 2008 season, the Monarchs will be hosting special events for fans to participate in during designated home games throughout the season. The special events at Monarchs games are as follows:
