2006 All-Stars
Monarchs center Yolanda Griffith was named a starter for the Western Conference at the 2006 WNBA All-Star Game in New York. The game marks Griffith's third All-Star appearance in the starting five and sixth All Star appearance overall. In addition, Monarchs Head Coach John Whisenant and his entire coaching staff will take the reigns as head coach for the Western Conference.
2006 Sacramento Monarchs All-Decade Team
In recognition of the Sacramento Monarchs 10th Anniversary the franchise will honor past and present team members with an All-Decade Team as voted on by selected members of the Sacramento Media. The 2006 Sacramento Monarchs All-Decade Team will consist of 10 Monarchs players split into a First Team and a Second Team and will be announced the week of June 19th and will be honored during the Monarchs 10th Anniversary Celebration Game on July 15th vs. the Connecticut Sun.
Major Improvement
Monarchs forward/center Erin Buescher has made huge improvements in her game during the 2006 season. Her improved play has other WNBA players and coach's taking notice, making her a standout candidate for the WNBA's 2006 Most Improved Award.
