
Sacramento Monarchs Waive Barbara Farris

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., May 25, 2009 - The Sacramento Monarchs today announced that the organization has waived center/forward Barbara Farris. The Monarchs acquired Farris on March 20 of this year from the Phoenix Mercury in exchange for guard A'Quonesia Franklin and forward Kim Smith. Farris played in one preseason game with the Monarchs, against the Storm, and totaled 7:30 minutes, one rebound and one block on May 21, in Seattle.
The Monarchs camp roster now stands at 15, with 12 returning players and three draft picks.
The Monarchs lone preseason home game is versus the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday, May 27, at 11 a.m., at ARCO Arena for the Monarchs School Day Game; all available lower level tickets cost just $10.
The Monarchs open their 13th WNBA season at ARCO Arena as they take on the Seattle Storm, on Saturday, June 6, at 1 p.m., PDT. All fans in attendance will receive a commemorative Opening Day pin and Thunderstix. Following their first game of the 2009 season, the Monarchs travel to Seattle on June 7 before returning to ARCO Arena for a match-up with the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, June 12, at 7 p.m.
